Waxing is a hair removal practice where the hair is removed from its root. We offer hard and soft waxing options. Your skincare therapist recommends maintaining your waxing every 4-6 weeks.
PREPARE FOR YOUR WAX SERVICE
For best results, body hair should be at ¼” long and facial hair ⅛” long when you come in.
Prevent ingrown hairs by making it a habit to exfoliate the skin—eliminating dead surface cells—for an even, polished surface that is ideal for wax application. Use Aveda Botanical Kinetics™ Exfoliant with camomile and lavender for the face. For the body, use Aveda Smoothing Body Polish with aloe.
Keep in mind that skin feels more discomfort just before and during menstruation because our bodies retain more water.
CARING FOR YOUR WAXED SKIN
Protect your extra-vulnerable waxed skin from the sun and other environmental aggressors. For the face, use sheer tinted moisturizer, SPF 15.
If you notice any irritation or beginning of ingrown hairs, apply Aveda’s Outer Peace™ Blemish Relief Pads to the specific area. Outer Peace™ pads have salicylic acid in them, which is a great anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. Use one pad daily until the area has calmed down and ingrown hairs have subsided.
WHEN NOT TO WAX
If using accutane or retinoids (vitamin A topicals can cause thinning and sensitivity with the skin).
If having regular chemical peels (as the skin will be thinner and you can risk losing skin when the wax is removed).
